LIVERPOOL TO LIFT THE CUP +134 - Extra Time and Penalties Included (500/670) Pinnacle

I cannot get a certain football chant out of my head that is very commonly heard in England when a so-called favourite is losing. It goes something like this....

WHO ARE YA?!
WHO ARE YA?!
WHO ARE YA?!

I expect Liverpool fans be will shouting this when Steven Gerrard accepts the Cup for the 2nd time in 3 years. Milan have been made the favourites in todays Final and I am left scratching my head. Never mind the fact that Liverpool eliminated the two tournament favourites by beating Barcelona and Chelsea. Nevermind that Liverpool conceded the fewest goals of any team to reach the Quarter-Finals. Nevermind that Liverpool probably have the best goal-keeper in Europe (especially for Penalties)......Milan are the favourites.

And why are Milan the favourites? They barely beat Celtic in the First Knock-Out Round, scoring the only goal of the 2 Leg Match in Extra Time at home. Then Milan beat an under-manned Bayern Munich who have struggled mightily this season by an aggregate score of 4-2 in the Quarter-Finals. Milan managed to beat Manchester United on the back of Kaka and it is the 3-0 win at San Siro that seems to be the reason for Milan's status as favourite; however, this was a 3-0 win over a team that had several injury problems in defense and an overall fatigued team that gave away too much space to Milan in mid-field. Manchester United played with all of their healthy first team players down the stretch of their domestic schedule as they battled Chelsea for the Premiership Title and were overwhelmed by a well rested Milan side. This will not be the case against Liverpool.

Liverpool clinched a Champions League place for 2007-08 early enough to rest some of their top players as they focused all of their attention on winning the Champions League Title. Liverpool's performance in the Premiership was about the same as Milan's performance in Serie A but no one can deny that Liverpool are a stronger team than they were in 2005 and Milan are weaker. Since the 2005 Champions League Final Liverpool have added experienced international players such as Crouch, Kuyt, Reina and Mascherano. Milan, on the other hand, have lost some important players since that incredible Final in Istanbul. Most important among them are Crespo and Shevchenko who were, without a doubt, the most dangerous players for Milan in 2005. Milan still have Kaka but one man cannot win this match all by himself against a tough team with such outstanding European pedigree as Liverpool.

Good Luck

Now I am nervous. There is a lot of steam on Milan to win in regulation.

Hey Marky...im a huge Liverpool fan, bigger TFC fan now that we have a team here and I wasn't going to bet on the match today.

However, you have convinced me to jump on the LIVERPOOL TO RAISE THE TROPHY at Pinnacle for a considerable amount and now I have no choice but to throw on my Gerrard #8 jersey and run to the pub.

i looked hard at the game: first of all i cannot find a big difference between the teams, but i like your points Markie.
From a neutral standpoint capped this game it s a coin- flip with both teams can possibly win and therefore it would be a NO PLAY.
But as i need some action i like the + 0.25 on Liverpool on what should be a pk line.
As you are stating already there is no real reason to make Milan a fav. Both teams are solid on defense, both teams struggle to score from time to time (especially against good defenses), both played a mediocre domestic season --- BUT i like the way Liverpool got thru to this stage. they simply produced the results against "on paper" superior teams, which gives me confidence that Bernitez comes up with another solid game plan for today.

regarding the total everything points to a low scoring game. especially if you count in that it is a Final. But i am not really comfortable in playing totals of 2 in soccer. if one team scores in first 30 minutes this could well get out of control (scoring wise) as their final in 2005.
still undecided on the total.

So my play just for action:

Liverpool pk,+0.5 @ 1.95 on what should be a pk and has a good chance to end in a draw.

How do you guys see the total? maybe wait for 2nd half total??

This is such an obvious under play that anyone who follows soccer will especially regret not playing the under if it wins. I am not sayng it can't lose, but the under is not just a must play, it is a MUST MUST play.

I don't think so Spades. The magnitude of this game is so large that believe it or not, things open up and guys go a little crazy which usually results in a few goals. Good luck with the UNDER...just cant play it. Since 1998, only one CL Final has seen 1 goal or less and it was AC Milan versus Juventus.

I'm on Milan to win in normal time as they have a major chip on their shoulder from the last time. Also got a Bonus Bet which I used to go with Kaka first to score at 8.00 (+800)

Unbelievable. Liverpool dominates first half only to see them down 1-0. Milan looked asleep the whole half.

The halftime analysts are saying that was handball. I thought it went off his head.
